Please score a 5 on my design and it could get printed! Reblog and share this if you can, thank you so much!
Here’s a throwback sketch page. All of these were done in class or during a critique, senior year. I can pick out a few people here, Noelle Stevenson, Matthew Barry, Kevin Valiente, and Allan Comport. I discovered recently that this ball point pen I used a few times ended up offsetting this gross yellow onto whatever it touched. Weird but also kinda like it.
Bone Black began with a craigslist ad at midnight. I’d just graduated and lost my access to the cushy studio at MICA, and with a nest egg of savings I invested in an old Chandler and Price 8x12 press and cabinet of lead type lovingly kept by a printer in Tom’s River, NJ. Having sat in a garage untouched for 2 decades, the century old press needed a lot of TLC.
After a summer of scrubbing rust, oiling constantly, and setting up shop in a new Baltimore artist collective ashstreetstudios, I can finally print again. Please contact me at SRobbins01@MICA.edu to start our next project.
You can also meet me this weekend and check out my press on October 15, at the studio during the School 33 open studios weekend. I’ll be at 3687 Ash St. 10am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
I’ve decided on Bone Black Press and made a tumblr page for specifically my letter press work, this tumblr will go back to being all illustration with respect to the fact that these two practices are very intertwined. :)
I’m going to be a part of this! My name is up there! God I’m so excited I could burst.
